Every beautician knows the importance of a clean and tidy salon. After all, clients come to relax and enjoy their treatments rather than worrying about germs that they may pick up. This principle is more important now than ever before with Covid variants and wanting to protect everyone from harm.
So… How can you make sure your salon is hygienic?
1. Cleaning the workplace:
This one may seem simple but it is so important to disinfect surfaces, door handles, tables, chairs, etc. We recommend a daily deep cleanse at the beginning and end of each day with anti-bacterial sprays and other cleaning sprays. We also recommend using disinfectant wipes in between each client to avoid cross contamination.
2. Disposable gloves:
Vinyl gloves can help protect the transmission of germs between you and the client, as well as protecting you from any chemicals you may come in contact with during treatments. (For example: Acrylic, lash glue…)
They can help to prevent cross-contamination when disposed of after each client.
3. Hand Sanitiser:
If 2020 / 2021 taught us anything … it was the importance of hand sanitiser. We strongly recommend sanitising your hands before, during (when possible), and after each client. It is also a good idea to have sanitiser set to one side in the seating area for clients so they can be encouraged to sanitise regularly while in your salon. We always suggest for treatments such as a manicure to sanitise clients hands for them with a sanitiser spray.
The regular sanitation will not only protect yourself, other members of staff, and clients themselves, it will also put the clients mind to ease when seeing the safety precautions you are taking.
4. Having a one-use policy:
This means only using things once per client. These could be appliances such as tools, towels, instruments, etc. Once they have been used you should clean/ sterilise them before using on another client. This will guarantee you are acting the most consciously for your clients health & will make your salons environment safer.
