At 14 I wanted to go into the beauty industry. I loved everything about it, meeting new people, making people happy, everything!
But all the negative comments really got to me. I would hear “beauty school drop out” “you only do beauty because your not clever enough for anything else”.. and so on. This hugely knocked my confidence and I ended up studying something that wasn’t ‘me’.
From the age of 15 I have worked (I’m now 21) and I have never been able to say i love my job (or that I like going to work, without it being a lie) so I decided to do what I love.. beauty.
This is where I discovered Top Talons. I found Top Talons online and I booked the classic and hybrid eyelash course. From the booking phone call, to this present day, I have never ever experienced such lovely service and support from all of the staff! Not once did I feel out of place (even though I hadn’t ever done a beauty treatment).
Now, I’m currently starting my own business. I have a qualification in:

Now I’m feeling so confident and my skills have improved hugely.
I have had so much fun especially on the manicure and gel polish course. I Still have one more day of training to come and I am already looking at further courses to book!

I had been working in admin for over 20 years, and after working for a few different type’s of companies I had decided I was ready for a complete change in career.
I had been going and having my nails done for years and really enjoyed having them done, I would watch there work and ask questions.
Then around two years ago I decide to start doing my own nails.Beginning of this year is when I started to look into doing nail courses, I did a lot of research before going ahead, and I’m glad to say I really enjoyed my courses at Top Talons and would highly recommend to anyone.
Howard and Linda have so much knowledge and have helped me a lot, I also like the fact that your training does not just stop at the end of your course they are happy for you to call or send pictures of your work for help and advice.

I came to Top Talons because I had read such good reviews online. I had 0 experience with nails other than I know I liked mine being done so wanted to learn how it worked. It was so much more than I expected! The tutors are so kind and patient with you. In a group of 8 we all had one to one time but helped each other aswell. You learn so much so quickly. I took my first course back in 2015. The staff and trainee was so welcoming, loving and caring. Always made sure that you left exactly knowing what you needed to do.
4 years on I am now qualified in individual, russian and hybrid lashes, plus the lash lift, spray tanning, brow tint and wax and hair weave extensions. I have recently just signed up for the 3 method hair extensions which I’m looking forward to. I have always done my courses with top talons and I also send alot of people to them. I would be lost without the help of Linda and Howard.

TopTalons were recommended to me by a friend who used them 8 years ago.
I was a little unsure due to distance but I looked through their website to see which courses they provided and what would be better suited to me. The website had a great layout, easy to browse with lots of information provided. After weighing up my options. Even though it would be a 144 mile round trip for me to train there, I was certainly happy travelling to train there, especially after reading other reviews too.
I would certainly recommend Top Talons to anyone looking to do a course. They were very helpful when I booked my course and on the day. They are very friendly, made everyone feel very welcome and it was a great atmosphere to learn in. They provided all information you need and even gave us ideas and tips on profits and promoting business.
I will definitely use them again too and hope to be returning to Top Talons in the very near future to do another course.

After months of wanting to take an eyelash extension course but never getting around to it, I finally decided to make the move. I was overwhelmed at all the different training schools online but decided to go with Top Talons after a friend had recently undergone the same course and highly recommended it. I spoke to Howard on the phone before booking it and he was very helpful.
I was lucky enough to be the first customer at the new facilities and the staff were all so lovely and welcoming upon arrival. The course was very in depth and professional. There were only 2 of us taking the course so it was like a private lesson! Regarding my first experience at Toptalons… It was good overall. Linda was a great help, she gave me the support and attention that I needed, especially when I was doing acrylic nails which I found quite difficult to begin with. Up until july last year I’ve always worked from job to job and currently I work in the care industry. Care work is rewarding but I’ve always wanted to do something for myself and for others. Doing some research into eyelashes I came across top talons.
I of course doubted myself and wondered if I could or not. Having a pushy partner, i attended my first training course on individual eyelash extentions.
I didnt know what to expect, and I was a bag of nerves.
But once I was there, I was made to feel comfortable, safe and reasurred by such a lovely team and the most helpful, calm and lovely trainer Lauren!
Soon after I was booking in for my Russian volume. Yet again, I was a bag of nerves but the team there make you feel so reassured.
I’ve just passed my waxing course and I’ve got my facial course booked for the end of February!
I’ve found myself comfortable there and I’ll continue to book all my future courses there.

I’ve learned so much and knowing I can go back there with any questions or if I need help really puts my mind at ease. It’s a really relaxed atmosphere because everyone who’s there wants to learn. I made friends who I share my work with now!

“I have never ever done anything in the beauty industry in my life. Like most girls I have always enjoyed doing my own makeup, having my eyelashes done & being pampered ready for my holidays. I thought from the introduction of the Acrylic Nail course over the phone through to the presentation and practical aspects on the day were excellent and everything was as explained. I was very enthusiastic about learning this technique, and the fact that all the equipment and support offered to learn with couldn’t have been any better I couldn’t have asked for more. I was able to ask lots of questions and try out different techniques, and learn all at once it was fantastic. I was so proud of myself at the end of the day because when I had applied the acrylic to the dummy nails initially it was really thick and a bit uneven, then when I was urged to try on the real nails of my partner something amazing happened and I just seemed to apply it correctly with confidence without struggling like I thought I would.. I was a bag of nerves at first and all of it was made so clear through guidance and demonstration. It just made me want to keep going. I have had a really bad two years and I ended up having the best day I’ve had in ages which was heightened by Linda and her team who made me feel so comfortable. I felt like I had done something really special for myself. In fact all the ladies that helped me on the day were so lovely and I want to thanks all of them now because it’s only through their support and instruction I got the confidence to do my best. I am definitely coming back.

Hia. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team for your help on the one day acrylic extention course. I had a brilliant time and met some really nice people who were on the same beginners level I am at and felt the trainers were very knowledgeable, friendly and experienced people.
I have been getting my nails done for the past year and wanted to be able to do it myself as I bite my nails and have found having acrylic helps them and I can have them the way I like them. I live near Blackpool and was looking to go on a one day course but found the ones near me are spread over a number of weeks, not on for many more months and cost a fortune. I found the one day course at top talons and even though it was over 2 hours and 100 miles away from where I live, it was perfect as it was on 2 days later, happened to fall on my day off and was a good price. I rang the office the next morning and was accomodated to be able to fit on the course. I have been struggling with getting the right ratio of acrylic and found the feedback and tips I was given were super helpful and was informed that my brush wasn’t very good. I was lent some products to use and found they worked much better and even bought some from the shop later on at a good price. I am still practicing and feel I can get in touch with the trainers if I need advice at any time.

By far the easiest booking system and so easy to contact before the training with any questions or advice I needed.
The gentleman who I spoke with most, he was so helpful every time I rang even when phoning up to make sure I had the correct address and and making sure I was okay finding the location as I was coming from the Wirral. I recently did a course with Top Talons and would like to say how amazing they are. I was really worried going into the day thinking I wasn’t good enough but the trainer Lauren was amazing, she put me at ease straight away and was very informative. She made everything as straight forward as it could be making me feel so much better about doing the course.
I have to say it was the best thing I’ve decided to do , even though I’m a uni student doing lashes was still a good idea for me as it gives me the freedom to work when I want to. I couldn’t thank Top Talons enough for their support and friendliness.
I’m now working in Ambers Nails in Mansfield as a lash technician and love it. I did my nail specialist technician course at Top Talons a few weeks ago. Over 3 days this covered gel extensions, acrylic extensions, gel polish and manicure. This course was everything I could have hoped for and more. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Howard greeted me outside and put me at ease straight away. “Hi,
I attended a course at the end of October (28th I think!) and just wanted to leave feedback.
I came to a nail course with Top Talons about 15 years ago, and learned silk and acrylic extensions. It was a great course and I found it easy to practice a lot after I had initiated learned, and carried on doing nails for about 4 years.
I was training as a hairdresser at the same time I attended the course, so once qualified I worked full time hairdressing, and eventually didn’t have time to fit nails in anymore. I then went on to have a family, and changed my job after that.
However, recently I went to work in a beauty salon as a receptionist, they needed a nail technician shortly after I started and asked if I would be interested. I said yes and started training to do gel polish, which I completed and and then decided to attend the course for acrylic extensions as I needed refresher training after all these years!
The course was great, and even though it was over one day I felt like everything was covered. There was a small group of us which ensured that we were properly taught and advised on the best ways to do things as we were going along.
We could ask questions at any time, and were given written information along with practical help as we worked. It was a really friendly atmosphere and I never felt like I couldn’t ask if I was unsure of anything.
We were told we could send in pictures, email, call, or even come back if we had further questions or needed advice after the course which was great. It was good that we were offered help and advice if we were setting up as a self employed business, and told we could ask at any time after the course about this too.
Linda and Howard are really enthusiastic about the training they provide and are so proud of their students who go on to do so well in their own business after learning with them! I would definitely recommend Top Talons for training, and would not hesitate to come back for further courses in future.

I did 4 courses here last week over 3 days the Defined Brows course, Lash lift & tint, UV/ LED Gel Nail Extensions course & Duo Gel 2 in 1 course.
The two trainers that i had throughout these 3 courses were amazing, so professional but also very friendly & helpful they completely put me at ease as this is the first time i have done anything in the beauty field & is a complete career change for me.
Linda & Howard who run the training school have also been amazing, they are also very professional & any questions that i have asked they have answered in depth all of them, they are very friendly, helpful & very supportive.

“After 6 years I have decided to work in the beauty industry again. I first started studying beauty therapy whilst at secondary school as part of my options, honestly I just followed the girls I hung around with and it turned out that I absolutely loved it! I’m the only one that stuck with it and realised I actually want to do this. Its a part of me. Learning different treatments and making people feel better.
I did the gel nail extension course and it was brilliant. I liked that we was working on people we don’t know to create a real salon environment. We had constant support and supervision. I would rate Top Talons 5/5. I attended 3 different courses which were acrylic nails, gel and gel duo nails, manicure and gel polish.

Hi, I really enjoyed the manicure & gel polish course I attended on 21st August. It was very informative, the tutors made me feel at ease, gave tips, lovely setting, not too far to travel to. I chose to do the course with top talons as I have done a course there previously which was very good to. I was looking at online nail courses but decided to do one at top talons because I wanted to do it in front of the people that were assessing me, I wanted to see how it was done in real life instead of on a computer screen. Since doing the course I have done lots of people’s nails and I’m having very positive feedback. Upon arrival I was greeted by Howard and was made to feel very welcome. I traveled 3 hours away for this course as I had read all the other reviews and was excited to see what I could learn and they didn’t disappoint. Linda gave a precise and informative talk about what we were going to learn throughout the day, she also gave advice on what to do and what not to do regarding nail care. After the talk Marie demonstrated how to apply the false nails to the actual nail. She was very thorough and very patient. A very good tutor throughout the demonstrations of applying the gel and acrylic.

My first course at Top Talons was Duogel & nail extension at the beginning on July, I was so impressed I then booked lash lift, tint & cluster course, manicure & gel polish course and the individual lash course. All courses 10/10 as personally I don’t believe you would find that kind of training and on going support anywhere else for these prices. Training room is a lovely size and all training is friendly and professional. Up to now I have built up a small client base in Nottingham offering the above treatments and will defiantly be back. I did my Acrylic course at top talons! and I’ve also prebooked another course with them, and any other courses I need in the future I will be doing with them, they are amazing people made me feel so welcome, if I need to ask anything I know I can pick up the phone, they are also very accommodating to people’s needs, especially mine, I wouldn’t go anywhere else now for anything.

I attended your Russian lash course which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a really friendly/relaxing/comfortable environment whilst the trainer remained professional at all times. The trainer was constantly talking about the subject at hand (lashes) and answered any questions and queries I had. I felt really at ease and welcome all day. I travelled from Sheffield and would definitely return for any future courses I need. The whole team was really professional checking all was ok and if I needed anything.

I travelled from Leicester & was very nervous but had absolutely no need to be, I was put at ease straight away when greeted by Howard. I did the gel duo course & found it very interesting. I would just like to thank you for the brilliant training in October. I just wanted to let you know business is going extremely well, I’m nearly fully booked to for the next 4 weeks. Everyone is extremely happy with their nails and coming back to me.
I’m still learning how to file quicker but it’s taking me 2.5 hours to do a full set of Gels and Acrylics now. I just wanted to share with you the most recent Gels and Acrylics I did because I’m proud and I wouldn’t be where I am now if I didn’t have the training you taught me.

I did a gel and acrylics course at Top Talons on the same day and it was brilliant, I couldn’t fault them. Not only were they lovely people, they made me feel welcome and they talked the group everything we needed to know before starting and they did brilliant demonstrations.
After reading the reviews before booking the course I knew I wanted to learn at Top Talons but it meant I had to travel 2 hours to get there, but after going there and experiencing it for myself, I was very glad I did as it was well worth the travel. I bought the large kit and was very pleased with it, overall the course was amazing and I will definitely be back to do more.
What was nice of them is that they do also have Tea and Coffee you can help yourself too throughout the whole time there.

I have done 4 courses here so far! (Manicure, pedicure, gel polish and waxing most recently.) All courses have had loads of information the trainers are so helpful and make you feel at ease and the kits are fantastic value for money especially if you are just starting out.
I have a further 2 courses booked and can’t wait to attend them as I know all the trainers really want you to succeed and be the best you can be, it’s not just a case of taking your money and that’s it!!

“Hi, Linda and Howard.
Forgive the delay, I have been that busy, its taken me until now to be able to take the time out to write this. So as promised:I had spent many years working in the NHS and decided that at 57 years old I wanted to do something I had always wanted to do and that was to become a nail technician/beauty therapist. I found Top Talons after extensive research and travelled from my home in Manchester to Chesterfield to attend my first nail course. I came away on that first day of training knowing I had made the right decision (a big one at my age) and I told Linda and Howard, ‘I would be back for more courses’.
After several more courses and trips to Chesterfield I felt confident enough to start my own business. I had excellent advice from both Linda and Howard and it was now or never to start the journey! In the beginning, I worked from home, then as my clientele got bigger I rented two rooms in a local hairdressers. I found within a month I had actually done 38 Lash lift’s which really took off. This one treatment is so worth doing the training for. It is so popular! I now have established myself within my community, advertised in the local newspaper, have a Facebook page, twitter page, Instagram and am VERY busy! I love what I am doing and this surely goes to show that age has no relevance when it comes to training and achieving your dreams.
A huge thank you to Linda and Howard (and Marie) for their expertise, encouragement, professionalism and indeed friendship over the months that I trained with them. I wholeheartedly recommend Top Talons as more than just a Beauty Training School. Hia. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the team for your help on the one day acrylic extension course. I had a brilliant time and met some really nice people who were on the same beginners level I am at and felt the trainers were very knowledgeable, friendly and experienced people.
I have been getting my nails done for the past year and wanted to be able to do it myself as I bite my nails and have found having acrylic helps them and I can have them the way I like them. I live near Blackpool and was looking to go on a one day course but found the ones near me are spread over a number of weeks, not on for many more months and cost a fortune. I found the one day course at top talons and even though it was over 2 hours and 100 miles away from where I live, it was perfect as it was on 2 days later, happened to fall on my day off and was a good price. I rang the office the next morning and was accommodated to be able to fit on the course. I have been struggling with getting the right ratio of acrylic and found the feedback and tips I was given were super helpful and was informed that my brush wasn’t very good. I was able to borrow some products to use and found they worked much better and even bought some from the shop later on at a good price. I am still practising and feel I can get in touch with the trainers if I need advice at any time.

I attended the beginners acrylic nail course recently as I was really interested in learning the correct techniques for applying nail extensions..I have only done them on myself previously and wanted to work on other people, we were shown step by step by way of a demonstration broken up into sections so as not to overload us and then we worked on each other..Linda and the tutor (sorry Ive forgotten her name) were on hand at all times to help out if we became unstuck.
I produced a great set of nails and was shown the correct filing procedures and hints and tips along the way..throughout the day Howard and Linda shared their knowledge of the nail business and the do’s and dont’s of being self employed etc.
I found the course really enjoyable and I feel I definitely benefitted from it and acquired a qualification as well! Win win..I would highly recommend Top Talons above any other training centres..and so affordable too. I cant wait to put my new skills to good practice..
